I hope everyone had a successful mid-term!
After careful consideration, I have decided to change my RP topic to something which appeals to me more. As a fan of Amy Tan's books, I am especially moved by her insightful account of mother-daughter relationship. Therefore I want to investigate more about the fragile yet deep affection between Chinese mothers and their Chinese American daughters, as well as the symbols they represent.
In Tan's books, the daughters are all influenced by their mothers , and whether they know it or not, they are firmly tied with their mothers emotionally. Even though they resist their moms due to cultural differences and age gaps, their love was evident and persistent. My ambition is to figure out how those daughters reverend thier moms in spite of the hurtful remarks or misunderstanding. They are connectied with each other in an unbreakable way.
